Chinese photographers scoop Dubai awards
Chinese photographers, accounting for nearly 12 percent of all participants, won three of the 23 awards in a yearly international photography competition in Dubai.
The awards ceremony for the seventh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Awards (HIPA) was held March 12 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
With a theme of The Moment, the seventh competition had three categories: Portfolio, General and Time-Lapse.
Chinese photographer Ding Zuhe won first prize in the General/Color category with his work The Dream Express, while Mohamed Alragheb, a photographer from Syria, was the Grand Prize Winner with his work Spring in Aleppo and received prize money worth $120,000.
HIPA was established by H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum to demonstrate the commitment of Dubai to encouraging and supporting art, culture and innovation.
