More than 600 million yuan in direct economic losses so far were caused by the typhoon, while more than 15,500 hectares of crops were flooded in the western part of Guangdong. Streets were flooded, causing heavy traffic jams in the downtown areas of typhoon-hit cities.
Guangdong provincial government sent two working groups to flood-hit areas to help guide locals dealing with the disaster. The provincial government has urged relevant cities and departments to take concrete and effective measures to prevent casualties and minimize economic losses in the coming days. A typhoon might strike Guangdong's western coastal region again on Tuesday.
