Last year, Xiao Zuonian and his wife He Qiaoyun gave up their jobs in Guangdong province and opened an online and brick-and-mortar store selling kiwi fruit. They also set up a cooperative that plants the fruit for sale.

On Aug 24, an e-commerce service center opened at the Songbai town branch of the China Post to further boost local sales online. Every day, more than 20,000 parcels of kiwi fruit are sent to clients across the country via the center.

Last year, revenue from selling kiwi fruit reached more than 100 million yuan ($14.5 million) in the town. The online business model has attracted more than 3,600 farmers.
