A photo taken Sept 28 shows the Ji'an Ganjiang Bridge in Ji'an city, Jiangxi province, being demolished with explosives. Measuring 1,577 meters in length and 19.5 meters in width, the multispan prestressed concrete girder bridge opened to traffic in early 1995. The bridge became too old to handle the increasing traffic demands and sustained serious damage. The demolition will make way for a taller, wider bridge to better serve local traffic. [Photo/VCG]
