State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay official visits to the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Fiji from Sunday to Wednesday, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said on Friday.
China's ties with the Philippines, currently the China-ASEAN country coordinator, are progressing steadily, Hua said, adding that Wang's visit aims to further implement the important consensus reached between the two countries' leaders, deepen bilateral cooperation and push forward China-ASEAN ties as well as cooperation in eastern Asia.
Papua New Guinea, which will host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation informal leaders' meeting in November, is China's good friend and partner in the region of the Pacific island countries, Hua said. China hopes to maintain high-level exchanges as well as exchanges at other various levels with Papua New Guinea, she said.
China-Fiji ties have been developing rapidly since President Xi Jinping paid a state visit to the country in 2014, and China hopes to work with Fiji to keep enhancing the ties, Hua said.
