Spider-Man film hit with critics and box office

Sony's upcoming animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse grossed nearly 11 million yuan ($1.6 million) ahead of its release, live tracker Maoyan said on Thursday.

The film, which opened across Chinese mainland on Dec 21, is about Brooklyn teen Miles Morales becoming the new superhero black Spider-Man after receiving training from Peter Parker, an older Spider-Man from another dimension.
