It is completely understandable for enterprises to safeguard their legitimate rights through legal means, foreign ministry spokesman Lu Kang said on Thursday after the Chinese telecom giant Huawei lodged a law suit against the US government.

Huawei announced on Thursday it had filed a complaint in a federal court in Texas challenging the constitutionality of Section 889 of the National Defense Authorization Act, a section signed into law by the US president in August that banned federal agencies and their contractors from procuring its equipment and services.

Lu told the daily news conference China had expressed opposition to the United States about negative China-related content in the act at the time.

He added he is not aware if the Chinese government will join the lawsuit with the Chinese company.
