The Chinese lion dance originated in the Han Dynasty (206 BC–220 AD), developing into two major genres over more than 2,000 years, namely the southern lion dance and northern lion dance.

Society members perform the southern branch lion dance, also known as the awakened lion, featuring vivid movements like scratching an itch, shaking the hair and preening. The dance was listed as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2006.
