UK lawmakers have to vote on May's Brexit deal

Brexit with a deal. Brexit without a deal. No Brexit. Those are the only possible destinations on the United Kingdom's torturous journey toward determining its future relationship with the European Union. An extension, election, or second referendum would simply be a detour on the road toward one of those endpoints.

In mid-March, British lawmakers will determine the country's next step.

Late Sunday or early Monday would be the ultimate deadline to allow time for members of Parliament to scrutinize the text before it's put to a vote on Tuesday, March 12.

If May loses the vote and Parliament then rejects a no-deal Brexit in a vote planned for the following day, the government expects a flurry of amendments on March 14 when a motion on postponing Brexit day will be debated.

Talks with the UK on amending its divorce deal with the European Union have made no headway and no swift solution is in sight, EU officials said on Wednesday.
