Opera from Ningxia to mark China's 70th anniversary

The Ningxia troupe's performance focused on a farmer couple, Wang Gui and Li Xiangxiang, also the title of the show, and told how they started a happy life with the help of the red guards in the 1930s while fighting against a despot landlord.

The concert sold out and was warmly received by both young and old.

Adapted from an eponymous narrative poetry, the show was listed as one of the 13 dramas recommended by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism to welcome the 70th anniversary of the founding of People's Republic of China in October.
