Jiangsu vice-governor expelled from Party

Miao Ruilin, vice-governor of East China's Jiangsu province, was expelled from the Party and removed from public office for disciplinary and legal violations, an official statement said Sunday.
Following a CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection investigation, Miao was found to have seriously violated political discipline and rules.
He violated laws and used his post to seek profit for others and illegally accepted properties.
Miao abused his power to gain illegitimate interests for others, he owned shares in non-listed companies, and he harmed the national interests in housing distribution, according to the anti-graft authority.
The statement said Miao will face prosecution according to law.
Miao, born 1964, took office as vice-governor in January 2018. He was also a member of the 18th CPC National Congress and a member of the 11th and 12th National People's Congress, according to the Jiangsu government website.
He worked as deputy Party chief and mayor of Nanjing, capital city of Jiangsu province, from 2013 to 2018.
In 2016, he was appointed director of Nanjing Jiangbei New area, one of 20 national-level new areas in China.
