BEIJING - China's raw coal production rose 0.6 percent year-on-year to 1.11 billion metric tons in the first four months of the year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

In April alone, raw coal output edged up 0.1 percent from one year ago to 290 million tons. The daily average output of raw coal stood at 9.81 million tons last month, according to the bureau.

Imports of raw coal jumped 13.6 percent year-on-year to 25.3 million tons in April.

The NBS data also shows that the growth of coal-fired electricity generation reversed the upward trend in April with a decrease of 0.2 percent, while the generation of other clean power posted faster growth.
