Seniors learn English from films and TV series

A course teaching seniors the English in films and TV series has opened in a university in Northeast China’s Heilongjiang province.

English courses in Harbin University for Seniors, including basic English, English listening comprehension and spoken English, have attracted significant numbers of students since the beginning of the new semester in March.

“I will choose a two-three minutes’ clip from an English-language TV series or film for each three-hour lesson,” teacher Zhu Guoqiang said. “The clips usually contain typical words and sentences for everyday use.”

After clearly explaining the words and sentences, the students will practice dubbing in different roles.
