The Chinese government has always implemented United Nations resolutions seriously and comprehensively, and has asked Chinese financial institutions and individuals to observe the UN sanction resolutions strictly, Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Tuesday.
Geng's remarks came after reports said three Chinese banks might be penalized over dealings with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
The Chinese government has always asked overseas branches of Chinese financial institutions to abide by local laws strictly and cooperate with local judicial and law enforcement departments, Geng said.
Also, China is consistently opposed to the so-called long-arm jurisdiction the US imposes on Chinese companies, and hopes the US will strengthen bilateral cooperation with other countries in financial regulation, including information exchange that complies with their domestic laws.
