Panda celebrates 3rd birthday
Zhang Yixin, a Wuhan Zoo volunteer, told the special visitors about the panda house, the method of distinguishing between panda Chun Qiao and panda Pang Niu and their hobbies. The families were given 50 pieces of steamed cornbread cooked by the kitchen to give to the animals.
A panda keeper then brought a custom cake for Pang Niu. The two-layer cake was made of carrots, bamboo, bamboo shoots, apples, cucumbers, watermelon and blueberries, the same kind created for panda Chun Qiao's birthday cake on Aug 8. Heart-shaped ice cubes and three bamboo leaves to stand in for candles decorated the cake, expressing a wish from the staff that Pang Niu will grow up happily.
The Wuhan Zoo also bought two slippery slides and two bamboo beds for the panda sisters. Pang Niu slid down from her air conditioned room and started to enjoy her birthday cake.
