The Crxssing Festival, an avant-garde celebration of creativity and entertainment, took place at Bandai Namco Dream Hall in Shanghai on Sep 5.
The one-day cross-channel cultural festival brought together Chinese jazz pianist Luo Ning and French singer Claire Laffut in a live performance that covered Chinese and French music, art and fashion.
Luo is winner of Best Jazz Album at the 2019 CMA music awards, and Laffut is a singer, painter and model, and the new face for Chanel's Gabrielle campaign.
While some of Luo's compositions are about his childhood in in the Xinjiang Uyghur autonomous region, Laffut created music about her family.
The Crxssing Festival was founded in 2017 by Vivendi, a French content, media and communications group whose companies include Universal Music Group, Studiocanal, Gameloft and Havas. The first Crxssing Festival took place at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London and in 2018 it was held at King's Cross in London. The event has since been held in Paris and Los Angeles and will move to Tokyo after Shanghai.
Mike Amour, the chairman of the Vivendi China Committee said in Shanghai that "China is a key market for Vivendi and we are growing at an extremely fast pace here. So, we felt the time was right to launch Crxssing in China."
