Shanghai Astronomy Museum completes lighting tests
The Shanghai Astronomy Museum, which will become the world's largest when it officially opens in 2021, has recently completed testing of the lighting systems for its main building and landscape.
Located in Pudong New Area, the 38,164-square-meter facility comprises one main structure and other buildings such as observatories with telescopes that allow high-definition observation of the surface of the moon and planets.
According to the museum, the main idea behind the design of the building is influenced by astronomical principles like orbital motion. Audiences can participate in interactive activities powered by augmented and virtual reality and artificial intelligence to learn more about astronomy.
The museum will also feature intelligent venues that allow audiences to access information and enjoy personalized visiting experiences online and offline, as well as offer astronomy courses, observation activities and an astronomy enthusiast club following its opening.
