Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro will pay a state visit next week to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping, the Foreign Ministry announced on Friday.
During the three-day visit starting from Thursday, President Xi will hold a welcome ceremony and banquet. The two presidents will also jointly attend a signing ceremony.
Premier Li Keqiang and top legislator Li Zhanshu will also meet with Bolsonaro.
"The two sides will exchange views on the China-Brazil relationship and issues of common concern," ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said on Friday.
According to Geng, Bolsonaro will also participate in events related to the bilateral economy and trade.
Since the two countries established diplomatic ties 45 years ago, the China-Brazil relationship has maintained sound and stable development with achievements made in mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas, Geng said.
"China appreciates that Bolsonaro has paid high attention to developing Brazil-China relations since he took office," he said.
This will be Bolsonaro's first visit to China since he sworn in as Brazil's president in January.
