2019 Argentine general election

General elections will be held in Argentina on Oct 27, to elect the president of Argentina, members of the national congress and the governors of most provinces.

Incumbent president Mauricio Macri is running for re-election. Alberto Fernandez recommended by former president Cristina Kirchner is the most competitive opponent.

In August, Fernandez trounced Macri by almost 15 percent of votes obtained, and Argentina went through a week of economic turmoil leading to a substantial devaluation of the Argentine peso, a national stock market crash, and a plunge of Argentine companies' share prices on Wall Street after a shock primary election result.
