SHANGHAI -- Fifteen racehorses from Hungary have arrived in Shanghai, marking the beginning of the racehorse trade between the two sides, Shanghai Customs said Friday.
The import of the racehorses was a follow-through of a cooperative agreement signed between the Shanghai Equestrian Association (SEA) and Hungarian Equestrian Federation during the first China International Import Expo (CIIE) held last November.
The racehorses from Hungary will be mainly used in international equestrian events held in Shanghai, according to SEA.
The horses have undergone health checks and are now under a 30-day quarantine, according to Shanghai Customs.
The second CIIE will take place from Nov 5 to 10 in Shanghai, after which the country exhibitions will be extended for eight more days and open to the public for free from Nov 13 to 20.
