A road collapsed early morning Wednesday outside the East Fourth Ring Road in Beijing's Chaoyang district, leaving a truck plunged in the ground, according to local authorities.
The front of the van had fallen into the ground and a warning line had been put up, media report said.
No one was injured.
The truck driver, surnamed Zhang, said he came to the spot to deliver bottled water to nearby residents.
No incidents of this kind have previously occurred in this area.
The sub-district office and community residents responded immediately and notified related departments to deal with the incident.
The water supply of some nearby resident communities had also been affected and was thus stopped immediately, local authorities said.
By 12:30 pm, a crane had arrived at the scene and the bottled water had been cleaned from the spot.
