Athens Philharmonic to make Beijing debut on New Year's Eve

The Athens Philharmonic will make its Beijing debut on New Year's Eve with a concert under the baton of conductor Michalis Economou, the concert's organizer, Beijing Artists Management Corp Ltd, announced.

The concert is part of the upcoming Beijing New Year's performance series, initiated by the organizer in 1996.

Seven performances, including classical music, Chinese folk music, ballet and Peking Opera, will be staged from Dec 28 to Jan 5. The Kiev Ballet, a leading ballet company based in the city of Kiev, Ukraine, will perform the classic, Swan Lake, on Jan 5. Since 2015, the ballet company has performed in the capital every year during the annual Beijing New Year's performance series.
