Beijing Olympic Tower newsroom opens

A huge, 1-ton compressed disk of tea leaves called "Bird's Nest Tea", produced in Tanyang village, Fu'an city in East China's Fujian province, was transported to Beijing and put on display in the tower on the same day the newsroom opened, in the hope of demonstrating best wishes for the Beijing Winter Olympic Games.

The tea disk is 2.022 meters tall and weighs 925.5 kg.

Zhong Yiguo, mayor of Fu'an, said the city hopes the world will get to learn about the tea via this platform.
