A seven-year-old girl who was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, was successfully transferred to a Beijing hospital for treatment from Xinxiang city in Central China's Henan province after a 600 kilometer journey by ambulance on Wednesday.
"This couldn't have been done if the traffic police on the expressways didn't help," said Kou Jiaxiang, a reporter with the Beijing News which made a live report about a whole escorting process.
According to traffic police for expressways in North China's Hebei province, the ambulance traveled a total of 600 kilometers from Henan to Hebei and finally to Beijing; 440 of those kilometers were in Hebei.
About 100 police and more than 20 police vehicles in Hebei participated in the mission of escorting the ambulance to Beijing in case there were traffic problems on the way.
Her condition is stable and the girl is now under treatment at a children's hospital in the capital.
