Museum alliance strengthens protection of Yellow River cultural relics
A museum alliance has been established to strengthen the protection of cultural relics along the Yellow River.
The alliance consists of 45 museums from nine provinces along the river and was launched in Zhengzhou, capital of Central China's Henan province on Monday.
The coalition, initiated by the Henan Museum, is "of great practical significance to the protection, inheritance and promotion of Yellow River culture," said Guan Qiang, deputy director of the National Cultural Heritage Administration. "The next step is to constantly improve the level of protection and promote the spread of Yellow River culture."
A seminar on protection, inheritance and promotion of Yellow River culture was held on the same day. The Henan Museum was elected as the first convener for a two-year term.
A national heritage park corridor of the Yellow River Basin will be built in Henan province, according to Tian Kai, director of the province's Cultural Heritage Department.
"Henan is rich in cultural relics and there are five world cultural heritages in the Yellow River Basin, ranking at first place among all the provincial-level regions along the Yellow River," he said. "We will promote a series of important projects to protect the culture of the Yellow River."
