High-quality content needed in media

More efforts should be made for media to produce high-quality content in an information overload era, especially with the advance of technologies and algorithms, according to an industry insider.

"An ocean of information may appear on everyone's smartphone every day but not much of them can reach readers accurately and offer trustworthy information," said Chen Tong, president of Yidian Zixun, a Chinese mobile news aggregator.

At the same time the use of algorithms has improved the efficiency of the news industry, it has brought many risks in content, including vulgarization and sensational headlines, Chen said.

"Therefore, more efforts should be gathered to produce high-quality content as everyone deserves high-quality services," he added.

The news aggregator has developed a short video platform through which the firm plans to offer more high-quality content in breaking news.
