Pompeo to visit Angola, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and Oman

Pompeo will visit Angola, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia and Oman from Feb 17-22.

This will be Pompeo's first visit to sub-Saharan Africa as the chief US diplomat.

In Angola, he will meet Angolan President Joao Lourenco to discuss Angola's anti-corruption efforts.

During his visit to Ethiopia, he will meet with Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde to discuss joint efforts to promote regional security and to support Ethiopia's historic political and economic reform agenda.

Later, he will visit Saudi Arabia, where he will meet with senior leaders of the kingdom to discuss bilateral and regional issues.

His last stop will be Muscat, Oman. Pompeo will express his condolences on the death of Sultan Qaboos bin Said in person, and will meet with the new sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
