Lives in Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi province, have been on hold since Jan 23, during the novel coronavirus out-break. Many historic sites in the ancient capital of 13 dynasties, including the Tang (618-907), which are usually packed with visitors, have been empty. However, last month things started to return to normal. Many factories resumed production and some restaurants reopened to customers. A dozen scenic spots are offering free admission this month in a bid to attract visitors. China Daily photographer Huo Yan reports from Xi'an.
