Shanghai's district landscape and greening bureau has adjusted the cleaning schedule of Jiangwancheng Road from Tuesday to Saturday to give people more time to view the sights of pavements blanketed with the pink petals from cherry blossom trees.

Around 200 "Kanzan" cherry trees grow along the 700-meter section of Jiangwancheng Road between Yinhang Road and Qingbo Road. Sanitation workers now sweep this section only once a day at sunset so as to preserve the presence of the pink petals. They will continue to clear litter during the day.

Shanghai has since 2013 adopted similar practices during autumn when fallen yellow leaves create a visual spectacle on the streets.
