China asks for public tip-offs on organized crime

Xinhua | Updated: 2020-04-27 19:46

BEIJING -- China's national office against organized crime is seeking public tip-offs regarding 38 cases involving organized and gang-related crimes amid an intensifying crackdown on such crimes, according to a statement released Monday.

The office published the crime locations and suspect names and asked the public to submit tip-offs and information about the suspects at large and those acting as "protective umbrellas" of the crimes.

It also urged the suspects and people in public office who harbored the suspects or covered up such crimes to surrender themselves in exchange for leniency, according to the statement.

China has recently cracked down on 73 organized criminal cases including some high-profile ones under the supervision of the national office against organized crime.
