Working deep in the mountains every day, Nie Jingming, 46, has been a protector and feeder of macaques in the Wulingyuan scenic zone of Zhangjiajie, Hunan province, since 2000.

He loves the job, and claims he has even learned the language of the animals. He calls the monkeys "my kids".

"They are a beautiful part of the Wulingyuan scenery," Nie said. "As valuable friends of humankind, these creatures should be protected."

Thanks to its natural forests and good climate, Wulingyuan has become a paradise for macaques and many other kinds of animals.
