Fifty-six Chinese companies have made it to the Forbes Asia 2020 "Best Under A Billion" list, which ranks 200 small and medium-sized listed companies with revenue less than $1 billion (6.9 billion yuan) in the Asia-Pacific region.
The 56 companies are mainly in the healthcare, biopharmaceutical, education and electronic technology industries.
According to records on debt, sales, robust governance, earnings-per-share growth in recent one- and three-year fiscal periods, and one- and five-year average returns on equity, the business magazine selected 200 small and medium-sized enterprises from a total of 18,000 for the list.
Moreover, the magazine pointed out the list is based on the latest available full-year annual results as of July 7, 2020, so it does not fully reflect the impact from the COVID-19 pandemic-led downturn.
