A new bridge that runs across the Yangtze River will officially open to traffic in Wuhan, Hubei provincial capital, in early December, which will play an important role in further promoting the development of the port economy along the country's largest river in the central metropolis.

The bridge, called Qingshan Bridge, will also help Wuhan construct a modern logistics base in central China when the city's inland river ports, airport, bonded zones, chemical, logistics and industrial development parks are better connected by the new bridge in the months ahead, the city authorities said.

The project, which passed acceptance examination and inspection at the beginning of November, is Wuhan's 11th bridge across the Yangtze River and the first bridge to open to traffic after COVID-19 was put under control in the city. It has added a new iconic structure to the city, a transportation hub in central China.

The two-way bridge, which is 48-meters-wide and includes eight lanes and another two emergency lanes on both sides, will become the widest bridge that runs across Yangtze River in Wuhan, according to Li Yong, the project chief engineer.
