China's mobile phone shipments down 15.1% in November

BEIJING -- China's mobile phone shipments stood at 29.58 million units in November, down 15.1 percent year-on-year, data from the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology shows.

The figure narrowed from a 27.3 percent dive in October, according to the CAICT, a research institute under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Smartphone shipments went down 17 percent year-on-year to 27.71 million units, accounting for 93.7 percent of all mobile phone shipments last month.

Domestic brands continued to dominate mobile phone shipments in November, hitting 22.68 million units and making up 76.7 percent of the total.

Mobile phone shipments in the January-November period reached a total of 281 million units, down 21.5 percent from the same period last year, according to the CAICT.
