BEIJING - Ford Motor Company (China) will recall 1,339 Lincoln vehicles from the Chinese market, according to the country's top quality watchdog.

The recall, set to begin on Jan 6, will involve imported Lincoln Aviator SUVs manufactured between Aug 24 and Sept 30, 2019, read a statement on the website of the State Administration for Market Regulation.

The automaker said the vehicle's rear driveshaft may fracture, causing it to lose power while in motion or move in ways the driver does not expect.

A rear driveshaft that detaches from the transmission system could damage the fuel tank and cause a fuel leak and possibly a fire, according to the statement.

Dealers will inspect the driveshafts of affected vehicles and replace them if necessary, free of charge, the statement read.
