A senior official of the Communist Party of China called on Wednesday for telling the story of the CPC to the world in a vivid manner to show the glorious development of the Party since it was founded in 1921.

Wang Huning, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks when addressing a national meeting of the heads of the Party committees' publicity departments in Beijing.

As this year marks the centenary of the CPC's founding, Wang said that publicity workers should make all-out efforts to celebrate the event with a focus on recording and showcasing the remarkable achievements of the Party.

He said that publicity officials must make it a major political task to study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to innovate their work styles and better fulfill their missions.

Wang also required planning of cultural reform and development in the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25) and advancing the nation's cultural soft power.

Solid efforts should be made in publicity and ideological work to provide strong support to the country in its drive to build itself into a modernized socialist country, he added.

Speaking at the meeting, Huang Kunming, a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, also underlined the need to give priority to publicity work in telling the story of the CPC as well as reforming and innovating international communications.
