Beijing Xinfadi wholesale market, which supplies more than 80 percent of the capital's agricultural produce, has called for vendors to remain open during the coming Chinese Lunar New Year holiday to ensure a stable supply of food to meet residents' demand.
According to the market, about 5,000 vendors will stay in Beijing, 3,000 more than usual in previous years.
Zhang Yuxi, president of the market, said the vegetable supply is sufficient, with stable prices.
He said the market has increased stock from the production cases. At present, the daily supply of vegetables and fruits is about 37,000 tons.
