A four-person choir sang Eternal Father, Strong to Save, which is traditionally associated with seafarers and the maritime armed services and reflects the Duke of Edinburgh's military service, and his lifelong support of the armed forces.

Due to COVID restrictions, the Queen stood alone as her husband's coffin was lowered into the Royal Vault of the ancient chapel.

The period of national mourning ends on the day of the funeral, but the Royal Family will continue to observe two weeks of mourning.
