French auto supplier Faurecia expects its China business to soar in coming years as the world's largest vehicle market continues to rebound.

The company estimates its sales will reach 5 billion euros (39.2 billion yuan) in 2025, double the 2020 level. It has built eight joint ventures with Chinese companies.

As part of its commitment to the country, Faurecia is showcasing its tailor-made solutions for Chinese customers at the Shanghai auto show.

Francois Tardif, president of Faurecia China, said many products at the booth feature local research and development efforts.

In its smart cabin, multimodal HMI solutions are developed with Chinese AI chipmaker Horizon Robotics and the lighting thread material is the result of its collaboration with a Shanghai-based university.

Faurecia is also showcasing a hydrogen-powered commercial vehicle solution at the event. The French auto supplier has developed a 7-tank hydrogen storage system, which is expected to enable a driving range of over 700 km.

As hydrogen mobility gains momentum, Faurecia said it is developing hydrogen storage systems and distribution services and as well as fuel cell systems.

"Faurecia is well placed to become a leading player in Chinese hydrogen mobility," said the company. By 2030, China expects to have at least one million fuel cell vehicles on its roads.
