A total of 80 pieces of thangka, a traditional Tibetan scroll painting which documents the knowledge and practices of Tibetan medicine, are being showcased in an exhibition in Shanghai's Yu Garden from April 29 to July 25.

The exhibition Treasures of the Tibetan Medicine is the first themed exhibition for these rare thangkas which were painted during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) and have been stored at the Norbulingka Palace in Lhasa.

The administrations of the Norbulingka Palace and Yu Garden, and the Tibetan Medicine Hospital of Xizang autonomous region co-organized the exhibition.

A lecture and an experience session of Tibetan medicine were held after the exhibition's opening ceremony on April 29.
