UIBE inaugurates new School of Government

The University of International Business and Economics held the inauguration ceremony of the School of Government and an academic symposium in Beijing on Thursday.

Yu Haichun, dean of the School of Government, hosted the event. Lu Xin, former vice-minister of education, chairman of the Chinese Society for Technical and Vocational Education and current member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, and UIBE leadership gave speeches at the ceremony.

Jiang Qingzhe, Party secretary of UIBE, announced the School of Public Administration to be renamed the School of Government. Jiang said the change was made to adjust to the emerging needs for modern administration and modern governance, and the School of Government will not only educate Chinese students but also pay attention to communication with international students.

"The School of Government should make full use of UIBE's rich experience in public administration, international trade and business administration, many of which were projects led by the Commerce Ministry," said Xia Wenbin, president of UIBE, during the interview. Xia added governance capacity has played an increasingly important role in recent times, especially during the pandemic.

Xia also said Chinese and international students can learn from each other based on mutual respect and understanding.
