China records over 750m employed in 2020

China registered 750.64 million employed people as of the end of 2020, according to the latest Statistical Bulletin on Human Resources and Social Security Development released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Securities on Thursday.

Among them, 462.71 million were working in urban areas, 11.86 million were newly employed, 5.11 million were re-employed after a job loss, and 1.67 million belonged to the group that found it difficult to find a job.

In 2020, the primary industry absorbed 23.6 percent of the country's total employed, the secondary industry, 28.7 percent, and the tertiary industry, 47.7 percent.

The country helped at least one person to find a job for each of 49,000 zero-employment households and dispatched 39,000 graduates to rural area to support farming, education, medical service and poverty alleviation.

The ratio of job vacancy to job hunter stood around 1.52 in the fourth quarter of 2020. The supply and demand of human resource market remained in general balance, said the bulletin.
