Bloomberg ranking of US defies reality

chinadaily.com.cn | Updated: 2021-07-16 10:31

A Bloomberg COVID Resilience Ranking has called the United States the best place as the world finally reopens.

But is it true?

US reported 33,946,217 COVID-19 cases and 608,104 deaths as of July 15.

2020 was the deadliest year in US history, due mainly to COVID-19. Even so, Anthony Fauci said the US has undercounted the number of deaths caused by COVID-19.

Ethnic minorities and the poor devastated by the pandemic.

As for vaccination rollout, there's chaos and inequality. Racial disparities and wealth gap persist and overseas Americans feel left behind.

US hordes vaccine doses, while many countries have to wait years to vaccinate a majority of their populations.

Does the US really deserve to be called the best?
