Autumn basking is a folk tradition unique to farmers in certain mountain areas. On the first day of autumn, the Chinese solar period that begins in August, locals dry their harvested produce in the sun to preserve it.

In recent days, Dong villagers in Zengchong village, Congjiang county, Guizhou province, have dried their harvested chilis and corn in their yards in front of their houses or on their rooftops.

In the harvest season, the sun-dried homegrown chilis and corn add bright colors to the rustic Dong village, and present a visual feast for tourists.
