FM Wang leaves Friday on 4-nation tour

State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay an official visit to Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and the Republic of Korea from Friday to Sept 15, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin announced on Tuesday.
Wang also will co-chair the 13th meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh.
Vietnam, Cambodia, Singapore and the ROK are all close neighbors and China's important partners, the spokesman said.
In the face of the COVID-19 epidemic, China and its neighboring countries have supported each other and tackled difficulties together, and they are forerunners of global COVID-19 response and economic recovery, he added.
The state councilor's upcoming visit fully reflects China's great emphasis on and sincerity in enhancing friendly relations and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation with the four countries, he said.
During the visit, the state councilor will embark on in-depth strategic communication to advance implementation of the important consensus reached between President Xi Jinping and the leaders of the four countries.
Also, Wang will focus on COVID-19 response and cooperation on development, promote synergy of development strategies, deepen Belt and Road Initiative cooperation and advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, the spokesman said.
China is willing to work with the four countries for new achievements in respective bilateral relations, jointly safeguard multilateralism and international fairness and justice, and inject more positivity into efforts seeking peace, stability, prosperity and development in the region and the world at large, he added.
