Kindergarten children in Fuzhou, Fujian province, lined up for nucleic acid testing of the coronavirus on Wednesday, with printouts of QR codes pinned to their clothes so medical workers could scan their registration information quickly.

The province has asked all schools to test their students, teachers and staff members before Sunday. On Thursday, Fujian reported 61 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and six locally transmitted asymptomatic carriers.

By 6 pm on Thursday, about 7 million people at the schools had been tested, more than 82 percent of the total. Of those, 942,000 people at colleges had been tested.
