Construction of cross-sea high-speed railway bridge in Fujian complete
A new bridge on a cross-sea high-speed railway linking two cities in Fujian province, Fuzhou and Xiamen, was completed on Tuesday, a significant progress for the railway's opening in 2023.
The Fuzhou-Xiamen high-speed railway, with a length of 277 kilometers and a speed of 350 km per hour, is expected to be the first cross-sea railway for bullet trains in China. The newly constructed bridge at the Quanzhou Bay is 20 km long. Advanced technologies were used to conquer construction difficulties, improve efficiency and secure safety, constructors said.
When the railway opens, travel time between Fuzhou, the provincial capital, and Xiamen, a famous tourism city, will be shortened to one hour, to accelerate economic and social development of the coastal city clusters in southeastern China.
