A battery swap station and photovoltaic power generation site built by China Petroleum and Chemical Corp, or Sinopec, started its service for car owners in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province, on Tuesday.

It was the Sinopec's 1,000th battery swap station and photovoltaic power generation site as the company vows to provide more green energy to help reduce carbon emissions in the years ahead.

Located in the Longdong area of Guangzhou, the photovoltaic power generation site will provide an estimated annual capacity of 33,000 kilowatt hours, according to the company, helping provide green power for new energy vehicle owners.

As one of the world's top refiners, Sinopec will expand its business in super-charging and battery swapping, based on its network of more than 30,000 oil refueling stations.

The company also plans to build 5,000 more charging and battery swap stations and 7,000 photovoltaic power generation sites during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

After completion of the 7,000 photovoltaic power generation sites nationwide, they are expected to generate about 480 million kWh of solar power, helping cut about 500,000 tons of nitrogen dioxide pollutants.

In green energy service, Sinopec has already built more than 20 hydrogen refueling stations in 14 provinces and cities, including Guangdong and Hainan provinces and Shanghai.
