International journalists witness century of success in Jiangsu province
More than 10 overseas reporters are visiting Changshu, Xuzhou and Huaian cities in East China's Jiangsu province to learn about the fruits of development in the province.
They come from countries and regions including Russia, Malaysia, Vietnam and South Korea to attend the four-day event, which started in Changshu on Wednesday.
Yang Liqun, deputy head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, said this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and Jiangsu's development into a moderately prosperous society is an important part of the Party's history of struggle.
Different countries are related to, and depend on, each other more closely, Yang said, adding that Jiangsu is becoming a community with a shared future with other regions across the world.
"I sincerely hope your in-depth and wonderful reports will help international societies and friends to know and love Jiangsu more and promote its, and also China's, friendly communication and cooperation with other countries and regions," he said.
Sun Shangwu, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, said Jiangsu boasts a solid foundation of the real economy, well-established industrial and supply chains, rich scientific and educational professionals and a good business environment.
The province has several advantageous opportunities involving the Belt and Road Initiative, the Yangtze River Economic Belt and integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, Sun said.
An increasing number of foreigners visited and learned more about Jiangsu in recent years. Olena Protchenko, an anchorwoman from China Arab TV, is attending the event for the third time.
She has had different expectations and results during each visit to Jiangsu, Protchenko said, adding that as a foreign media worker based in China, she has seen many photos and exhibitions on the early period after the founding of the People's Republic of China in 1949.
She has also witnessed great changes in the country's different regions and wonders how the CPC can govern China so well.
