The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to China held a webinar, District 2020: A lasting legacy after Expo 2020 Dubai, with support from District 2020, Dubai Tourism, and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade. Ambassadors, diplomats, senior officials, media representatives, and businesses attended the event online.

After 182 days of memorable experiences, Expo 2020 Dubai has successfully drawn to a close having recorded over 24 million visits, welcomed 192 countries and shown the world what can be achieved when humanity comes together. Following the six months of the World Expo, District 2020 will re-purpose 80 percent of the Expo's built environment into an integrated mixed-use community that will continue to attract businesses and people to work, live, visit and enjoy.

His Excellency Dr. Ali Obaid Al Dhaheri, Ambassador of the UAE to the People's Republic of China, delivered a speech at the webinar saying, "Expo 2020 Dubai is a stepping-stone to building a resilient future shaped by innovation, international cooperation and a more competitive and diversified economy. Expo 2020 may be concluded, but the event's wider legacy is not. Its closure signifies the beginning of a shared bright future."

During the online event, Vice Chairman of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and Commissioner General of the China Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai H.E. Zhang Shenfeng, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Tourism H.E. Issam Abdul Rahim Kazim and Senior Vice President of Transition Unit - District 2020 Mr. Sanjive Khosla shared the successful results of Expo 2020 Dubai and the China Pavilion, introducing the tourism and business sectors of District 2020 to Chinese audiences.

As the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia (MEASA) region as well as being the first event of its size and scale to be held since the pandemic began, Expo 2020 Dubai marked a major achievement for Dubai and heralded a historic moment for the UAE. Now transitioning into District 2020, it will carry on and fulfil the Expo's founding vision to be an ecosystem to connect, create and innovate.
